Absolutely! This event is designed for experienced D&D players who want a highly immersive, story-forward weekend.
Previous horseback riding experience is not required. Guided horseback quests will be conducted at a walk, and even first-time riders are welcome if they meet the riding requirements below. We provide the horses.
We offer a limited number of non-riding tickets for players who want the event experience without horseback riding.
Millbrooke Realmquest is a weekend-long, story-rich live-action Dungeons & Dragons experience combining immersive roleplay, tabletop play under expert DMs, camping, quests, thematic rituals, tournaments, and optional horseback adventures.
Join us for an unforgettable weekend across more than 140 scenic acres of meadow, forest, and creek at Millbrook Trail Rides!
Thank you for asking!
All riders must be at least 4'6" tall to ride.
Great question: May in Illinois is a little unpredictable. We recommend bringing the following items:
Ice will be delivered to villages daily & in case of inclement weather, your village will have a safety plan (that works with the story).
Need a tent? You can rent one for $50. There's a spot in the ticket form to request one, but we will ask for payment separately via Venmo.
This is a weekend camping event. Bring your own tent, bedding, and camping gear. No electricity will be available. Porta-potties and hand-washing stations will be available near the villages.
Camps will be setup in three themed village circles, each with its own bonfire and lore.
Horses will wander through the villages at night, adding to the world’s living atmosphere. If you'd like to give a horse a snack, please *only* give them carrots.
Players will be organized into clans and one of three villages for story and gameplay.
If you register with friends, you'll be placed in the same village. Groups are welcome, and solo players are very welcome too (you'll make a ton of friends here and be in good company).
Please indicate the name of other members of your party on the ticket order form so we can ensure you're paired together.
Dress as your character!
You're welcome to stay in character for the entirety of the game.
For horseback quests, long pants and closed-toed shoes are required.
All footwear for riders must fit within a 5" western-style stirrup. Please, no capes or gowns on horseback rides.
Definitely :)! From dinner Friday evening to breakfast Sunday morning. Vegetarian and gluten-free options will be offered at each meal.
Foxes Den Meadery will be running our tavern on Friday and Saturday evenings.
You! Without amazing adventures to come live the tale, it's just a story waiting to be told. We're excited for your quest to begin! We'd also like to thank our Event Partners, thank you!
We're grateful to the following partners:

Michael (aka MC aka Mizzko) is an Unintentional Forever DM and has been playing in the D&D 5e system for nearly a decade.
They recently started a brand (paragonprovisions.com) that centers around providing useful resources to D&D players of all experience levels with the goals of lowering the barrier of entry for everyone and helping enable people to focus on telling their authentic stories at the table.
Professionally they have been been a Project Manager and Technical System Adminstrator in nearly a dozen different industries and currently work to make order from chaos in their day job.

Leah has been a Dungeon Master for 6 years, mostly working with 5e and lately also Discworld. Leah runs lighthearted and immersive games with a role play focus. Here’s what her players have to say: “She fosters an environment that encourages character-based decision-making with noticeable impacts to the world” “She never fails to give each of her player's characters a moment to shine and always manages to skillfully tie each character's personal story to the overall narrative” “I've had the privilege being in her group for almost three years now and playing in one of her games is always guaranteed to be a fun time.”
When she is not behind the DM screen, Leah enjoys spending time making bobbin lace and watching international tv dramas as well as taking care of her pet snails and her dog.

Trav (aka DM Mythos) is a seasoned Dungeon Master with professional experience running immersive tabletop campaigns. He focuses on bringing worlds to life through a blend of cinematic storytelling and player-driven freedom, always aiming to create a table where every decision feels meaningful and every character has their time to shine. His sessions tend to mix structure with a bit of chaos and spontaneity, shaped as much by the players as the story itself, and designed to be welcoming for both new and veteran adventurers.
Off the table, Trav is a proud dad of two amazing adventurers and the founder of The Arcane Quill (TheArcaneQuill.com), a fantasy storytelling journal where mindset meets imagination. Through worldbuilding insights, narrative design, and creative exploration, he explores the deeper magic behind storytelling to help others craft stories that resonate, inspire, and endure.

Kate is a Dungeon Master that specializes in unique homebrew worlds with intellectually and emotionally challenging play. With a strong background in professional acting, improv, and theatre, she is excited to bring her DM style to the masses! If her players could leave reviews, they would say things like: “She has challenging combat, enticing stories, but made me let go of my beloved bullywug companion so he could live a more natural life.” “She creates plot twists like Brennan Lee Mulligan. She’s crazy.” and “She made a recurring NPC based off of Nicholas Cage’s character in National Treasure because I hate Nicholas Cage. She’s pure chaos.”
When not behind the screen, she lives and tells stories with her husband, two dogs, and three cats. She spends any spare time working with and riding horses, supporting her local soccer club, playing video games, watching wrestling, and working for her nonprofit organization.
